Altius Group Launches Online Mental Health Course with PointsBuild

We are excited to announce a collaboration between Altius Group and PointsBuild to bring you online courses for continued professional development (CPD).

PointsBuild is a leading provider of online education and training courses. For the past sixteen years, it has built up a great reputation for providing approved online compliance training to the building industry, focusing on regional and remote areas where quality training had previously been hard to find.

Like Altius Group, PointsBuild prides itself on innovation as a key ingredient to its success, along with technology, scalability, and sustainability. The online education and training leader aims to offer customers a convenient and smart way to learn.

Altius Group has used subject matter specialists to create a course for leaders and employers who want to educate themselves and create awareness within their organisations around mental health issues.

For 20 years, Altius Group has strived to promote and elevate wellbeing in workplaces, with the mental health of employees being a key component. Now, we can offer these insights to leaders and organisations all over Australia in an easy-to-access and convenient format.

Our new Mental Health Education and Awareness course is hosted online and worth 2 CPD points. The course consists of four units that can be completed in participants’ own time and at a pace that suits them.

The course objectives are to:

  • Provide an overview of mental health issues and mental well-being in the workplace.
  • Examine the roles and responsibilities associated with being a leader and managing mental health in the workplace.
  • Reduce the stigma and barriers to seeking assistance.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate management of mental health issues including signs and symptoms, treatment, resources and support.
  • Provide clear steps for early intervention and risk assessment in the workplace, including effective support and referral for workers experiencing mental health issues.
  • Enhance understanding of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).
  • Learn the skills to engage in courageous conversations - how to engage in difficult conversations related to mental health.

This course was created by Rachel Ahern, a registered psychologist from PeopleSense by Altius. Participants will gain a certificate of completion and earn 2 CPD points.
