Rehabilitating people who have sustained injuries or illness to optimise productive participation in work and life
Our allied health professionals provide an innovative approach to the assessment, collaboration, planning and management of complex injuries for individuals, workplaces and insurers. Through programs tailored to individual needs and workplaces, we aim to achieve for our clients productive, meaningful and durable employment in the same or alternate role.
Our ADL Assessments measure an individual's level of functional ability with consideration to their performance of self-care tasks, domestic maintenance and general community mobility. The focus of an ADL is always to provide the injured party with improved independence while maintaining safety.
Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) specialise in clinical exercise interventions for clients at risk of developing, or living with, chronic and complex medical conditions and injuries. We provide physical activity education, advice and support on lifestyle modification to assist the restoration of our client’s optimal physical function, health and wellbeing.
Physical and Psychological Functional Capacity Evaluation - Our allied health professionals assess, and provide recommendations on, a person’s current physical and psychological tolerance for work. A well timed Functional Capacity Evaluation is an effective tool to guide the management of a complex or significant injury or health issue and provide clarity about a person’s safe work capacity.
With years of specialist experience and industry knowledge, our professionals design holistic programs, tailored to individual needs to support positive return to work and recovery outcomes. We assess individuals, match their needs with the best cost-effective and timely strategies, then work with them throughout their program towards sustainable outcomes.
Our allied health professionals visit workplaces, including those of remote workers, to assess the suitability of a work environment for the work duties performed. We recommend relevant workplace modifications to ensure sound ergonomics – promoting health, productivity and wellbeing in employees.
We assist injured workers to develop important job seeking skills when they can no longer carry out their pre-injury job, or no longer have a position to return to. We focus on developing key competencies for successful job seeking and work with individuals to identify suitable roles for any ongoing restrictions they may have.
Our physical and psychological workplace assessments, carried out by Altius Group's psychologists and occupational therapists, provide the opportunity for employee symptom resolution and the modification of work practices and the work environment - for long term employee and employer health benefits.
We aim to reduce biopsychosocial barriers and physical deconditioning associated with not working through our Recovery and Wellness Initiative – providing holistic support to employees with physical injuries, unable to return to work, indefinitely or for a limited time, due to a lack of suitable duties provided by their employer.
On occasions where functional or psychological limitation prevents a return to prior employment, our consultants combine their specialist experience with evidence based tools and methods to empower individuals to actively engage in activities that enhance their prospects and ultimately achieve safe, sustainable redeployment outcomes.
Our Return to Work program assists employees to overcome a range of challenges impacting on their transition back to work – our consultants bring together the best of industry experience, professional training and creative problem solving to help employees resume a full and productive life. Intervention is proactive, goal-focused and cost-effective.
Our professional assessments provide a solid foundation to help individuals navigate their future career or return to work direction. Through interviews and standardised assessments we gather valuable information about an individual’s previous employment, education, achievements and interests - to analyse their aptitudes and abilities and establish their transferable skills.
In a contemplation phase of employment a client is highly ambivalent and not thinking about employment following injury or illness. Our vocational counselling focuses on transitioning clients through the contemplative phase to the preparation phase – where they have the mindset and skills to get things in place to seek employment.
We support sustainable outcomes for those returning to work after injury - providing physical, functional and behavioural solutions to increase the capacity of an injured worker. Work Related Activity Treatment focuses on targeted, work related functional activity, setting SMART goals and self-management strategies – through workplace based, home and gym sessions.
